More than 200 pupils took part in the event at Clenchwarton Primary School, which saw them sport colourful, themed knitwear in aid of Save the Children’s annual appeal.

Staff members also joined in the fundraising fun, with the school hoping to raise over £100 for the cause.

“The children also had their Christmas lunch on the day, so it was full of festivities,” said Assistant Headteacher Charlie Howells. “We had the whole school taking part.

“All staff were involved in wearing the Christmas jumpers and serving the children their Christmas lunch.”

Christmas Jumper Day launched in 2012 and has since raised more than £30 million for children across the UK and around the globe.

Last year, some 1.5 million children and teachers, and 27,000 workplaces, helped to raise £3 million for the charity.

“It is very important to Clenchwarton Primary School to help support fundraisers and their wonderful causes,” added Mrs Howells.

Other WNAT schools taking part included Marshland High School, Smithdon High School, Springwood High School, and Walpole Cross Keys Primary.
