Smithdon Summer Concert
Music lovers are invited to a free evening of musical entertainment, when Hunstanton Town Hall hosts Smithdon High School’s Annual Summer Concert.
The event, which will take place at 6pm on Thursday 11 July, will feature the talents of performers from Years 7 to 11 at Smithdon, which is part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust. They will be joined on stage by Year 5 and 6 pupils from fellow WNAT schools Snettisham Primary and Heacham Junior, with around 60 students taking part altogether.
“Students will be performing everything from musical theatre songs to rock music,” said Smithdon Music Lead Andrea Barnes, who is organising the production. “There is no theme for this concert, and, as such, the students have free rein to choose whatever it is they most enjoy performing.”
The audience will also be treated to a sneak preview of Smithdon’s next musical.
“Our cast of next year’s school musical will be performing a number from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr,” continued Mrs Barnes. “We always look forward to starting our new musicals, so this is so exciting.”
As well as music, visitors to the Town Hall will be able to enjoy artwork from Smithdon’s students, which will be on display during the concert.
“Events like this are important to help students develop their confidence and showcase their amazing talent,” added Mrs Barnes. “It is wonderful for the community to be able to see how amazing our wonderful students are.
“There are no tickets for this – we welcome everyone at the door. We typically welcome 110 to 150 people at our events, but would love to have even more of our community to come out and see the amazing talents.”
