Young pianists impress at WNAT recital
Budding pianists from across the West Norfolk Academies Trust gathered to showcase their talents at a recital being held for the fourth time.
The WNAT Cross-Trust Piano Recital was open to students from across our four high schools, and featured musicians from Marshland in West Walton, Smithdon in Hunstanton, and St Clement’s in Terrington St Clement, as well as Springwood in King’s Lynn, which hosted the evening.
Pianists aged 11 to 18 took part, performing a wide range of solo piano pieces, from classical numbers and film scores, to television theme tunes and pop.
The annual event was organised by WNAT Lead Peripatetic Tutor Benjamin Howell, and overseen by the Trust’s Director of Music, Robin Norman.
“Everyone starts somewhere with their musical journey, and what I love about these events is the fact that we have all abilities, from students who have been playing just a few months to those who have been playing nearly 10 years and are accomplished soloists,” said Mr Norman.
“All the students watch and support each other, with the more experienced ones being an inspiration to the less experienced ones.
“As we repeat the event, we also have the joy of seeing the students improve year on year – it is such a joy to see and hear.”
