Smithdon students step out in style
The final year students at Smithdon High School - part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust - had the chance to put on their glad rags for an end of year school prom after a tough time for everyone thanks to the pandemic.
The leavers’ prom saw a fantastic evening hosted at the Knights Hill Hotel for a rearranged celebration which was the last time the year group would all be together before heading in different directions.
“Through such a tough final year, as students worked hard for their Centre Assessed Grades, it was important they had something to look forward to. Other years were treated to a trip to Pleasurewood Hills and other activities to mark the final days of term,” said Head of School Amanda Gibbins.
The departing Year 11 students across all our schools faced a year more difficult than most because of the pandemic which forced them to study remotely for long spells.
It is testimony to their strength and resilience that students were able to rise one more time to put on such a fantastic display of enjoyment. They danced the night away and there was an array of beautiful dresses and dashing suits. Two of the Smithdon cohort even arrived by hearse.
Our thanks go out to all the supporting staff and parents who helped create such a wonderful atmosphere.
