The third year of MasterChef Skills Test at Marshland High School was fiercely contested across three year groups and the four houses of Attenborough, Ennis-Hill, Hawking and Parks.
“It has always been a very close competition,” said Stevie Goddard, Head of Food at the school.
Year 7 had the challenge of creating Mystery Filled Muffins, while Year 8 showcased their Meringue Roulade and Year 9 put their skills to the test with Star Bread. Students were marked on the appearance of the dish, overall quality, timing and cleanliness.
The dishes included the meringue roulade with whipped cream and fruit, Swedish star bread with a cinnamon filling, and muffins with a mystery ‘lottery filling’. Students had to blind pick from a selection of ten tickets with fillings on them ranging from marshmallow to custard.
Every student in each year group takes part in the contest and the overall winners were Parks House, followed by Hawking, Attenborough and Ennis-Hill
The inter-house challenges run throughout the academic year at the West Walton school and include everything from dodgeball to table tennis and a web design competition.
